Madison Square Garden is an adaptable indoor arena nestled quaintly in the NYC borough of Manhattan.

The fourth iteration of The Garden was opened in February of 1968 and it was actually the first stadium of its kind to be built above the platforms of a fully-functioning railway station. Over the past five decades or so, the arena has transformed into one of the most popular attractions in all of New York City, as it is home to the following events on an annual basis:

  • Professional basketball games, tennis matches, hockey tournaments, bull-fighting contests, and WWE events.
  • Incredible concerts held by world-renowned artists such as Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Madonna, Elton John, U2, Jethro Tull, Guns N’Roses, and Green Day, just to name a few.
  • Democratic and Republican political conventions.
  • Countless other gatherings, speeches, anniversary events, all-star games, and festivals as well.

As you might imagine, the area around The World’s Most Famous Arena is constantly teeming with amusement and excitement, but it wasn’t until a few years ago that the local eateries and restaurants began catching up to the times. After decades of procuring nothing other than overpriced burgers and soggy nachos, the restaurants in Manhattan have undergone somewhat of a renaissance during the past few years. So without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the most popular restaurants around MSG.

The Breslin

Since time immemorial, sports events and grilled meats have been close compatriots, which is why The Breslin has been able to carve out a unique niche in NYC’s restaurant scene. This well-appointed gastro-pub is just a short 10-minute stroll from Madison Square Garden, but you won’t have to deal with any of the highbrow nonsense commonly associated with downtown eateries. There are no tablecloths. No reservations. Just an amazing atmosphere with some of the most mouth-watering grilled meats in all of NYC.

Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong

With its incredible neon lights, bustling karaoke bars, and raucous Korean pop music, NYC’s K-Town makes you feel as though you have just stepped into the heart of downtown Seoul! However, although the area might seem a bit chaotic and frenzied, you won’t have to exhaust yourself whilst trying to find a fantastic eatery nearby. Situated proudly on E 32nd Street, you’ll find the traditionally-inspired Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong restaurant, which specialises in procuring authentic Korean BBQ dishes. Their customary chefs cook the food right in front of you, and the onsite aura is adrenaline-charged to say in the least, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise to find out that Korean BBQ has been taking NYC by storm.

Keens Steakhouse

Although many new restaurants have been popping up left and right, Keens Steakhouse has been around for more than 100 years, having been established way back in 1885. From the incredible onsite pipe collection and towering moose head statue to the awe-inspiring dishes and world-class alcoholic beverages, a visit to NYC wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the renowned Keens Steakhouse.

Kabooz’s Bar and Grill

If you want to chow down on some traditional New York cuisine, you’ll find some of the best nachos, burgers, and chicken wings at Kabooz’s in the Penn Station. With twelve different ice-cold beers on tap and a huge selection of wines, scotches, and vodkas offered on a daily basis, Kabooz’s Bar and Grill is also the perfect venue for a post-game or pre-game meal.
